Some of the authors who visit us discuss Ray Bradbury, Laura Ingalls Wilder, or linguistics.

But only one of them can talk about going to high school with the most notorious serial killer since Jack the Ripper

John “Derf” Backderf, the author of My Friend Dahmer, will visit us for a special author talk at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at our Main Branch.

Derf wrote and drew the bestselling graphic novel, Dahmer, about his high-school friendship with Jeffrey Dahmer — the awkward and troubled teen who would later become the century’s most notorious serial killer. The two attended Revere High School together and shared classrooms, hallways, and car rides.81ism0GODHL

In addition to Dahmer, Derf is the author of the graphic novels Trashed (about his time working on a garbage truck) and Punk Rock and Trailer Parks.

He also created the comic strip, The City, and his artwork has been displayed in museums and galleries across the world.

Meet Derf and learn the story behind his stories at this special event. Books will be available for sales and signing following the event.

Derf’s talk is both free to attend and open to all. You can RSVP online or call us at (440) 255-8811 ext. 247.
