The young artists of our Studio MPL club will get into the spirits of the season during their next meeting.
They’ll make artwork inspired by Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a holiday in Mexico that stretches from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. It’s an opportunity for families to get together, celebrate, and remember loved ones who have passed on.
It’s also an opportunity to sculpt and decorate colorful alfeñique skulls.
Kids can decorate some of their own at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at our Main Branch.
Every month, the kids in Studio MPL take on a new art project. They’ve sketched live models, created imaginary friends, made sun catchers, painted sunsets, weaved, tried out pointillism and even garnered inspiration from Jackson Pollock.
The club is free to attend and open to all kids in first through fifth grade. We do ask that you register beforehand. You can sign up online or call us at 440-255-8811 ext. 221.
For more Halloween/Day of the Dead fun, kids can visit our Lake Branch at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16. They can make some spooctacular decorations and play some Halloween trivia.
