iPads, Nooks, and other Electronic Devices

Nooks

Nooks are now available for you to check out and enjoy at the Main Library! This is your chance to get acquainted with “the World's Most Advanced eBook Reader!” All of our Nooks have been loaded with a selection of Bestselling Fiction and Nonfiction. If you are interested in checking out a Nook, please take a look at our Electronic Device Guidelines and User Agreement. You may also reserve a Nook online using our catalog. (Just do a keyword or title search for “Nook.”)

iPads

Apple iPads are now available for you to enjoy at the Main Library! Both iPads have been loaded with a number of fun and useful apps. You may check out an iPad for two hours with no renewal, for use in the Main Library only. iPads may not be taken home. iPad use is restricted to the following locations in the Main Library: public areas on the first floor, the Francis Cleveland Room or in the Childrens Area by patrons under the age 14 or by adults accompanied by a child. Nook Guides and Tours

Are available on the Nook itself. Turn on the Nook, then select "My Library" from the menu. Scroll through the titles to find "Nook Tour" and "Nook User Guide." Make your selection and press the circle on the lower right to open.

if the Nook is not responding...

In the rare case that your Nook is not responding, try these two steps, one at a time to get it fully functioning again: 1. Press and hold the power button for 20-seconds and then release. Then press it again to power up your Nook. 2. The battery on your Nook may be completely drained. Connect your Nook to a wall outlet using the Nook AC-Adapter and charge your Nook for at least 2 hours. If those two steps do not work, please call the Main Library 440.255.8811.
