We threw ourselves and everyone else an Un-Birthday Party on Thursday!
Everyone celebrated by making party hats, busting open a piñata, and even taking a few whipped-cream pies to the face.
We hope everyone had as much fun as we did.
If you like parties, we have our biggest party of the year on Thursday, May 26—our Summer Reading Kickoff Party.
Families can sign up for our summer reading programs that day at any of our branches. There will also be a kickoff concert for families by singer-songwriter Tom Sieling at our Main Branch.
We’re running a trio of summer reading programs this year and all three encourage people to be active mentally and physically. The children’s program is On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!; the teens’ is Get in the Game, Read!; and adults’ is Exercise your Mind, Read!
Throughout the summer, Mentor Public Library will host fun programs that encourage mental and physical fitness for kids, teens and adults.
On Move It Mondays, kids can enjoy activities related to keeping fit and having fun on our Read House lawn. Meanwhile, on Thursday mornings, families can walk with children’s librarians to a special story time in the park.
Everyone who participates in the summer reading programs—either by reading books or attending library programs—has a chance to win prizes. Those prizes include gift cards from local businesses and Lake County Captains tickets, as well as family passes to Holden Arboretum and Lake Metroparks Farmpark. The more someone reads, the better chance they have of winning.
Kids who read or are read to up to 15 hours will also receive a Library Champion lawn sign and window cling.
