School may be out, but kids can spend the day at Hogwarts at Mentor Public Library.

We’re revisiting Harry Potter’s first year of school to celebrate the 20th anniversary of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone. (Yes, it’s been two decades.)

During our party, children will:

  • get their wands, spell books and other supplies from Diagon Alley
  • be sorted into their houses
  • attend Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms and Potions classes.

Of course, we will also have Quidditch practice and end the day with butter beer.

School will be in session at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 26, at our Read House, which is next door to our Main Branch.

The program is free and open to all kids who are entering kindergarten through fifth grade. However, because of limited space, we do require that families register beforehand.

You can sign up by calling the library at (440) 255-8811 ext. 221.

School will be in session.
