Grab the popcorn and get ready for an action packed summer at the library! Lights! Camera! READ! is open to all Mentor Public Library cardholders, from our youngest listeners to our seasoned readers. Representatives from Best Buy will be at our Main Library to demonstrate how to go wireless and go digital. PC wireless connectivity, digital tv transition, and transferring your music from your PC to your ipod and back will all be discussed. Seats for this free program are limited; register online or call the library at 440.255.8811.
The third program in our President Garfield Series picks up with General Garfield's surprise nomination at Chicago's 1880 Republican Convention, sending shock waves back to Mentor. The nation's first Front Porch Campaign begins, and Lawnfield becomes a national symbol for the Republican Party. To hear more, join us for an evening presented by Dave Lintern. Free and open to the public. Registration is not necessary.
Meet Richard Ondo author of Lore of lake Erie, the third volume in his thrilling trilogy featuring Richard Stern, the FBI, and a sequence of mysterious events. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
Mentor Public Library is showing movies adapted from books Tuesday June 24th, July 8th, and July 22nd. All three begin at 6:30 p.m. and will have popcorn provided. On June 24th we will be showing a movie about a book club that only reads Jane Austen's works. On July 8th, the movie is about a girl who meets her grandmother for the first time and discovers she is a princess. On July 22nd, don't panic and don't forget your towel. Tour the galaxy as only a hitchhiker could. On Tuesday, July 29 we'll wrap up our movie series at 2:00 p.m. with a feature film starring Nicolas Cage as treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates. (Sorry, we have to keep the title a "Secret".)
