Kids could adopt a new stuffed dog for National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day in April at our Main Branch.

The children made sure their pups were healthy with a checkup at our veterinary clinic. Then they built them dog houses and decorated their collars.

And, of course, we had story time. Ms. Amy read the kids “Bark, George” by Jules Feiffer. It’s the story of a canine with an odd appetite and even odder vocabulary.

By the way, if your family wants a new friend who isn’t stuffed, there’s always Lake Humane Society.
