Kids take on old tech

That Walkman is probably more than twice the age of the child.

Smart phones have rendered a lot of technology redundant: cameras; clocks; GPS; iPods; encyclopedia (yes, books are a kind of technology); flashlights; and more.

During their STEAM program in October, kids examined tech from bygone eras and placed them into one of six categories:

  1. Telecommunications
  2. Media players
  3. Cameras
  4. GPS
  5. Internet
  6. Accessories & Productivity tools

The children learned about the evolving nature of technology and had fun playing with some … well … antiquated gadgets. (The kids were pretty amused by phones that needed a cord.)

Kids can learn about engineering when our STEAM series continues at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Our STEAM series is free and open to all kids in first through fifth grade. However, registration is required. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 255-8811 ext. 219.
