Want to grow flowers or herbs but don’t think you have the space?
Shelley Baeslack, a Lake County Master Gardener, is offering a class on container gardening at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at our Main Branch.
With container gardening, any patio, deck or windowsill can become a small garden.
The program is free and open to everyone. You can register for it on MPL’s website.
And if you’re looking for seeds to start your garden, the library can help you with that too.
With our seed library, you can borrow heirloom and organic seeds from Mentor Library for free.
Here’s how it works. Anyone with a MPL card in good standing can check out seeds from the library for their own garden. The library’s collection already has dozens of varieties of seed, including herbs, flowers, vegetables and fruit; and we’re adding more every week.
People can check out as many as 15 types of seed per year.
All we ask is that after the seeds grow into plants, you save some of its seeds and return them to the library.
