Kids learned about the science of sound and made some fun crafts during this week’s Musical Monday.

The children used Cup Phones to send sound along a string. Then, they learned how to change the pitch of a glass jar by filling it with water.

They also crafted noisemakers and made Scratch Art CDs.

By the way, you still have time to sign up for Summer Reading.

Everyone (including adults) have a chance to win prizes when they participate in our Summer Reading program.

Children can win one of 32 different prize packages. And the more the kids read or are read to, the better chance they have to win. Children who read at least 20 hours will also be entered into a drawing to win one of two grand prizes—a $50 gift card to Target.

Furthermore, kids who read or are read to up to 15 hours will receive a Library Champion lawn sign and window cling.

Meanwhile, teens and adults can participate in Summer Reading too by both reading books and attending library programs. They can win gift baskets, including vouchers to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or Beachland Ballroom & Tavern, discounts to local businesses, and passes to the City of Mentor’s pools and ice rink.
