Your library card provides free access to thousands of new and classic albums. Find out how.

You don’t need to spend money on a Spotify membership or iTunes to listen to the newest or best music.

All you need is a library card.

You can use your card to stream hundreds of albums from Hoopla, including the Hamilton Cast RecordingJay-Z’s 4:44Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic and the Moana Soundtrack.

Meanwhile, your card also lets you download DRM-free mp3s of your favorite songs from Freegal. Its library is enormous. It includes everything from Carole King to Miles DavisWillie Nelson to Nas.

In fact, Freegal’s collection is so large that it can be overwhelming. So we’ve created some playlists to help you navigate.

And once you download a song from Freegal, you can keep the mp3 forever. Put it on your phone, your computer, your iPod–wherever you want. It’s yours. You can download up to five songs a week.

You also get unlimited streaming on Freegal, if you prefer that.

Whether you want Sesame Street classics to play with your kids, a better St. Patrick’s Day playlist, or to listen to this year’s Grammy winners, you can do it for free with your library.

If you want some help navigating your options for online music, come to the library. We’re hosting a free class about online music on at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at our Main Branch.

The class is free and open to everyone. See you at the library!
