Learn how to make a rain garden

Make the rain work for you and your garden.

Make the rain work for you and your garden.

Hey green thumbs, do you have one dip in your yard that stays way too moist?

Use it to make a rain garden! Learn how you can make a cozy home for native perennial plants that love to keep their roots wet during a free program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at our Main Branch.

This workshop will show you the benefits of storm water for your garden and wildlife.

Speaking of your garden, did you know MPL has a seed library? Here’s how it works:

You can borrow heirloom and organic seeds from us the same way you’d borrow a book or movie.

You can pick from our dozens of varieties of herbs, flowers, vegetables and fruit seeds. Take up to 15 types of seed per year.

All we ask is that when the seeds grow into plants,  you save some of its seeds and return them to the library.

For more gardening tips, including a seed-planting calendar, visit our Seed Library’s page.
