Kids can have fun and learn how they can raise money for a good cause during the Mentor Schools Foundation Read-a-Thon Kickoff Party at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at our Main Branch.

First, the children will enjoy a magic show with Mr. Zap, who you may remember from our Summer Reading Kickoff Party last year. (When you want to kick something off, Mr. Zap’s your guy.)

He will show kids the magic of reading. Then, the children will learn about the Read-a-Thon where they can win prizes and help raise money for Mentor Schools Foundation.

The party is free to attend and open to all kids. Families are encouraged to register beforehand. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 255-8811.

The Read-a-Thon is an annual fundraiser for the Mentor Schools Foundation. Kids sign up friends and family members for pledges. The more the children read and the more pledges they get, the more money will go to the Mentor Schools Foundation.

The foundation has given more than $120,000 to Mentor Schools’ projects since its creation in 1985. It’s given grants to robotics, theater, Science Olympiad, Model United Nations, literacy programs and more.
