A trio of Lake County Master Gardeners share their experiences with revitalizing an old garden. They offer both general guidelines and unique insights that can guide you when renovating your landscape!

Transform your garden into a pollinator paradise with expertise from the Lake County Master Gardeners! Our gardener explains some of the ways that your gardens and even lawns can support local pollinators, including insects, birds, and even some mammals. Her recommendations include planting more flowers, using more native plants in your garden, avoiding pesticides, and shrinking the size of your lawns.

Learn integrated pest management from Lake County Master Gardeners

Mark Timm from the Lake County Master Gardeners explains how to manage pernicious pests and wicked weeds by selecting the correct plants, establishing good practices (including inspection and monitoring), and applying controls to your garden. There’s not a one-size-fits-all solution or quick fix for weeds and pests. However, with strategy and diligence you can protect your garden from the worst dangers.

Our next free talk with the Lake County Master Gardeners will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at our Main Branch. They’ll discuss how to transform your garden into a paradise for pollinators!
