Alpaca-lypse now!

More than 100 people were greeted by an uncommon site when they visited our Main Branch on Saturday, March 7.

A half-dozen alpacas from Stachowski Farm in Mantua were there for a special program.

During the program, Mary Reed from Sunnimoor Farms and Anothony Stachowski from Stachowski Farm discussed caring for alpacas, as well as the products farmers make with their fibers. Then, families got to meet the alpacas outside the library and could even feed them for $1.

We’ve hosted animals for special programs before. In fact, we have chicken eggs in our children’s department that will be hatching later this month. However, alpacas… well, that was a first.
