Want to customize coasters? Style your own tote bag? Learn how to use a laser engraver or green-screen recording studio?

Then you should visit The HUB inside Mentor High School this July. We’re hosting fun programs that can also serve as an introduction to The HUB’s state-of-the-art makerspace, including:

  • Adults can craft custom coasters using a vinyl cutter at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9.
  • Kids can use the makerspace’s vinyl cutter and heat press to stylize a plain black tote bag into something stellar at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
  • Green thumbs can use a laser engraver to personalize garden markers at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 11.
  • Any budding director who wants to increase the production the values on their YouTube channel can tour The HUB’s green-screen recording studio on Monday, July 15. The studio has all the hardware and software a nascent auteur needs, and it’s available to use for free. We’re hosting two introductory sessions on that Monday: one beginning at 2 p.m., the second at 6 p.m. Both sessions will take about an hour.

All of these programs are free to attend. However, due to limited space, registration is required. You can sign up to attend online or call The HUB at (440) 205-6011.

By the way, if you want to use the makerspace for a specific project, there’s never been a better opportunity. We’ve expanded The HUB’s hours to noon to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

The HUB’s makerspace has a green-screen studio (complete with camera and editing equipment,) laser engraver, vinyl cutter, T-shirt press, large format printer, spiral binder, button maker, 3D pens, sticker printer, and mini-laminator.

People can use any or all of these machines to make the project of their dreams. They don’t need to be a student at Mentor High School or even a resident of Mentor. All they need is a CLEVNET card in good standing. Click here for more details or to make a reservation.
