Celebrate National Poetry Month with us this April

Celebrate National Poetry Month with a poem a day all April!

We’re celebrating National Poetry Month by giving away poems all April.

Every day in April, you can visit the reference desk at MPL’s Main Branch and get a free poem.

The poems will be on a variety of subjects, written by a different poet each day and from different eras. It’s an easy and fun way to enjoy a panoply of poetry.

Naturally, we have hundreds of poetry books and books about poetry that you can borrow. That’s free too.

By the way, if you enjoy writing, you should visit the second ever Northcoast Writers’ Showcase from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Lakeland Community College.

Imbolo Mbue, author of the critically acclaimed Behold the Dreamers, will give the keynote speech that caps a day in which readers and aspiring writers can interact with dozens of talented and hard-working authors, ask questions about their writing journey, and attend workshops about the craft of writing.

Participating authors include David Giffels, Mindy McGinnis, Tom Batiuk, Rachele Alpine, and dozens more. And the entire event is free! Click here for more info.
