Ready for Halloween? We can get you in the spirit with spooky stories by the campfire at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, outside of our Lake Branch.

We’ll also have crafts, treats and a pumpkin-toss game.

Our spooky fun is free to attend and it’s open to all kids ages five and older. We require that you RSVP. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 257-2512.

We love Halloween and have spooky programs for kids at all of our branches. You can peruse them on our event calendar and see which ones that you want to attend. Some of our favorites include:

  • Our Picking Up STEAM’s Club Spooky Science day at 2 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 12, at our Lake Branch. STEAM, in this case, stands for Science Technology Engineering Art and Math. Kids (kindergarten through fifth grade) can learn with fun experiments and activities.

Don't forget that you can trick or treat at the library on Halloween.

  • A spectacularly spooky screening of a Disney Halloween classic at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, outside of our Main Branch. Bring your blankets and chairs, and wear your Halloween costume! We’ll serve popcorn and hot apple cider. No registration required and open to all ages.
  • Kids can concoct their own Monster Spray (just one spray keeps the monsters away) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at The HUB inside Mentor High School. For children, ages four to eight. Registration required.
  • Kids of all ages can dress like their favorite Powerpuff Girl, Crystal Gem, or secret agent from Codename: Kids Next Door during our Cartoon Network Costume Party from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at our Headlands Branch. There will be games, crafts, and cake. Come dressed as your favorite character from any Cartoon Network show – past or present.

Of course, you can also search for specters all month long during the Ghostbusters Scavenger Hunt at our Lake Branch and trick or treat at the library on Halloween.
