We are hosting our annual Summer Reading program, though it will look a little different from previous years. This summer’s theme is Imagine Your Story and it’s all about fairy tales, folk tales, and mythology.
It will run from June 15 to July 31.
People of all ages can participate by downloading a bingo card right here. There are two separate bingo cards:
- One for kids (entering sixth grade or younger)
- One for teens and adults (entering seventh grade or older.)
The cards for teens and adults are the same, but they will receive separate prizes.
The bingo cards are filled with fun ideas that people can do on their own or with their family. Most of the ideas involve reading but a few encourage other ways to have fun like visiting a local park.
Bring your card to the library by the end of Summer Reading. For each bingo you complete, you’ll receive a ticket for a chance to win one of the library’s prizes. (You can do this curbside at MPL’s Lake and Headlands Branches or at the drive-thru in the Main Branch, if you’d rather not come into the branch.)
The rules are a little different for kids and the teen/adult summer reading programs. For kids, you can earn up to 12 tickets if you complete every task (and, consequently, every bingo) on the card.
For teens and adults, you can also earn a raffle ticket when you:
- Complete the tasks in all four corners of the bingo card
- Return your card to the library.
Finally, any teens and adults will receive a ticket for a bonus raffle if they complete four or more bingos. Adult and teens can complete up to two Summer Reading bingo sheets to earn tickets.
Programming is still a big part of Mentor Public Library’s Summer Reading program. For now, we are sharing programs online. Kids can enjoy story times every week day on our website, Facebook page, YouTube channel, as well as craft ideas and free yoga sessions with a certified instructor. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy author talks, online book clubs, and more special online programs hosted via Zoom.
