Ages 10-17. Celebrate Mother’s Day by decorating cupcakes! Each family can pick up cupcake mix and a decorating kit the week prior to the program at the Lake branch. Show off your decorating skills! Let’s see what you can create! You may use extra supplies you have around the house if you’d like. Theme will be revealed at the beginning of the competition.

Program may not be well suited for those with food allergies. Please have cupcakes baked ahead of time. One registration per family.

Author visit with Jennifer Boresz Engelking. Her new book, Hidden History of Lake County Ohio was published on April 19, 2021.

Hidden History of Lake County, Ohio is a collection of stories behind the story of Lake County’s most well-known people and landmarks, along with stories that have been lost to time. The book tells of the early pioneers who settled near the coastline and farmed the rich soil, which led the county to be known around the world for its prime agriculture. It uncovers forgotten tales of one of the worst shipwrecks on the Great Lakes and the amusement park later built on the same tragic site. It reveals hidden passageways and secret tunnels. Please register to attend.

Galaxy in a Jar (Adults & Teens) @ Main Lawn

Join us to turn an ordinary glass jar into an out-of-this-world astronomy craft! All supplies will be provided. This will be an in-person program, taking place on the Main Branch Lawn.  Registration begins May 25 and is required.

Library programs will be conducted in accordance with current health and safety mandates/guidelines which are subject to change.  We encourage all attendees to observe these rules so that in-person programing may continue.  It is up to the individual to determine his or her level of comfort and acceptable risk when attending programs. If you are concerned about public gatherings, please do not attend.

Don’t read your books – Listen to them instead! Not only can you download eBooks at MPL, but now you can also download Audiobooks. Audiobooks can now be loaded onto PCs, Macs®, MP3 players, and many other mobile devices directly from your computer at home.

Mentor Public Library has expanded its online services by adding “eAudiobooks,” available to download from the library’s Web site through a new service powered by OverDrive. The service is free to patrons with a Mentor Public Library card. Users will need to install OverDrive® Media Console™ a free software found on the library’s Web site.
