You can borrow the Internet from Mentor Public Library.
We’re lending hotspots that can provide Wi-Fi to your wireless-enhanced devices like computers, smartphones, and tablets.
The goal of this program is to meet the needs of as many patrons in our community as possible with this service. The hotspot device program is not meant to replace an individual’s Wi-Fi access permanently but rather supplement it temporarily when situations arise.
Loan period: You can borrow one Hotspot at a time for up to 14 days. No renewals.
Holds: You can reserve a HotSpot using our event calendar. Click here for instructions. There is a 24-hour waiting period between hotspot reservations. Once a hotspot is returned, a patron must wait 24 hours before placing another reservation for a hotspot.
Where it works: Anywhere in the United states covered by T-Mobile’s network. (No international.)
To borrow: You must be over 18 years old and have a library card in good standing (less than $10 in fines). Bring your valid Ohio driver’s license and your Mentor Public Library card. You will also need to complete and sign an Electronic Device Agreement with each checkout, acknowledging financial responsibility for lost or damaged equipment. Only one hotspot per household can be checked out at a time. Hotspots can connect up to 10 devices at a time.
Hotspots maybe checked out or returned anytime from library opening until 30 minutes before closing.
Patrons will be fined $5 for each day a hotspot is returned late, up to $25. After three days, we will deactivate the hotspot and bill the patron to replace the device.
If the hotspot is damaged or lost, the patron will have to pay to replace it.
Hotspots or other MPL electronic devices cannot be returned in the library book drops. Users who return devices late and/or violate the agreement three or more times will lose their hotspot check-out privilege for a minimum of six months.
You will have to fill out and sign MPL’s Electronic Device Agreement in order to check out a Hotspot.
The library reserves the right to refuse service to those who abuse equipment or are repeatedly late in returning devices. Users who return devices late and/or violate the agreement three or more times will lose their hotspot check-out privilege for a minimum of six months.
Laptop computers are available for in-house checkout at all Mentor Public Library branches. Individuals 18 years or older with a Mentor Public Library card in good standing and a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license) can check out a laptop for use within the library. A parent or guardian that checks out a laptop for use by a minor child is required to stay with the child during use. Note: If you have outstanding fines or fees of $10.00 or more, you will not be permitted to check out a laptop until your fine is paid.
